Somewhere Between
This show was interesting as the planning was a bit different than most shoots we do. We shot this over a two day period. One of the challenges we had was that the beautiful set that the art department had put together was on the bottom of a 16’ tank.
We couldn’t have the actual actors at that depth if they were to use scuba apparatus at all, they were however allowed to work at 7’ depths. Some of the shots required them being deep in the water.
What we did was shoot the first day with 16’ of water in the tank to get the deep scenes with stunt doubles or on breath hold. Overnight the tank was then drained so the actors would be working at the 7’ max depth on scuba for the closer up shots. It worked really well and is a good one to have in the back pocket for future reference!
